LOOK!! Daylilies! There are SOOOO MANY of them!!
And MORE!!!!
AND MORE!!!!!!!!!!! There's a whole mountain full of them!!!!
太麻里金針山!!! This WAS the main purpose of our trip to Taitung this time! But then we got carried away with all the other spectaculars in Taitung that we could have forgotten about this.
No, wait.
I take that back. We COULD'NT have forgotten! Let's just say that these Taimali Daylilies are just as amazing as all the other places we had on our itinerary! We planned to head straight for this fairyland on the very first day, but it was a good thing that we saved an entire second day for it!
This place seemed so unbelievably far on the map! As we eventually made our way towards, we even passed a place called 荒野 ... yes, it does feel like it's a wilderness of no where! lol :P We were SOOOO excited to finally reached the first sign that said, 金針山 up this way! 14km!
It wasn't later that we learnt that AT 14km is only the START of where these daylilies are blooming, and we had to make our way even further into the mountain to really enjoy the wonders!
HERE! Here is the spot where we've finally decided to stop and get off our scooter! 賞花區number 6, it seemed just about enough! We were soooooooooooo happy with what we were seeing!
Just look at the entire hillside of it!
You could even lay down spreadeagle! The flowers are so much tougher than they seem! I'm sure if I were to, God forbid, roll off a hill full of these, I'd grab on these stems and they'd save me for sure :P
This WAS exactly what we thought we'd came here for! We were so satisfied! When we finally decided to leave, we had to stop at the opposite side of this hill and take a picture of the place we were so happy rolling around with the flowers on.
UNTIL this couple, along with their tour guide just happened to stop by at the exact same spot to snap their picture, that we were asked
"You guys are going back already? You only reached that hillside and you're heading back already??? There's so much more if you keep going!!! You guys should follow us!"
Oh MANNNN! It didn't take too much hesitation until we did decide to follow them. It turns out that a trip to 金針山 isn't complete unless you go around the ENTIRE mountain!
AND IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There's sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much more of them just a little further down the road! I can't believe we ALMOST just left!!!!!! We would have regretted it so badly!!
They're EVERYWHERE!!!
It was so great that we even got ourselves a free tour guide just out of luck! He knew all the best places to stop, he took pictures for us, and he even explained to us how these flowers bloomed!
這些是一日金針！Which means that they've GOT to be handpicked TODAY or they'll bloom the next day. And these are the ones that we actually eat. There are smaller ones too, called 兩日金針, which means that they have two more days until they bloom! Cool!! I was just wondering, how'd we EVER get to eat them if they're blooming all over the place!
This is the highest point of the mountain, 雙乳峰！They're two peaks, so as we ride in between them, it's like we're riding through the cleavage lol. And at the top of each peak, some guy has just made 雙乳峰 all too literal by building these two pavilions lol.
At the topmost point of the mountain! The fog kept coming interrupting the breathtaking view of the blue skies over the mountains but they did make the experience a lot more exciting :P
Finally heading down the mountain! Man! I've never gripped onto the brakes with this much might, I was dying to hold on for dear life! The slopes were soooooooo steep on the way down! I'd really have to reconsider holding on to the daylily stems if I really were to fall off!
And on our way down, we stopped at this suggested trail that's surrounded by all these bamboos! Mystic ain't it? :P
I heard that the mountains bloom lilies, the white kind, in some different season! We'll have to look that up, but whenever, I'll be there!!
